Style Musings: You Make Me Smile

I'm back!  I have not been very inspired lately.  On Memorial Day, I went shopping and pretty much emptied out the whole mall.  I got so much clothes!  Now I am sufficiently inspired.
One of my favorite buys are these shorts.  I got them at American Eagle, where a sale is going on.  I don't know how long the sale is for, so hurry.  I love the length of these shorts.  I don't have the legs for short-shorts, but I hate the length of bermuda shorts.
The color is awesome too; it's more interesting than denim but still is neutral enough to wear with anything.

The top is from Forever 21.  I got a lot of tops from Forever 21.  I needed them.  This is one of my favorites.  It's bright and colorful and very flattering.  It ties in the back from under the bust which makes it very flattering.  It accentuates my waist.  It's cut kinda high, so I need to wear a tank underneath.  Even with the tank, it's adorable.
 Here's a close-up of the top.
I'm not wearing any shoes today.  I'm not going anywhere.  If I was going somewhere, I would wear my brown braided flats or flatforms.  And maybe a cool, casual bracelet.  Keep it simple, you know.

Clawed: Minty

I like easy nail art, and what's easier than an ombre!  For this first try, I decided to use silver glitter (Nail Inc. Electric Lane) over a mint green (Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Mint Sorbet).  It's super-easy to do.  All you need is two colors, a makeup sponge, and a scrap piece of paper.  Here are the steps:
1. Paint your nails with your color over a base coat, if you like.  Let dry.

2. Pour a bit of your second color onto the scrap paper.
3. Rip off a piece of the makeup sponge.  It doesn't have to be a big piece.
4. Dip the sponge into the still-wet second color.
 5. Starting about 3/4 down your nail lightly sponge the color on all the way to the tip.  Let dry.
6. Now sponge half your nail with the color, all the way to the tip.  Let dry.
7.  Sponge the color onto your tips only.  Let dry.
8.Slick on a top coat, if you wish.
9. Clean up with a Q-tip or thin paintbrush dipped in nail polish remover.
This mani makes me so happy!  It's so cute and girly. I am going to try two colors, instead of a color and a glitter.  There is also another technique for an ombre mani, so I am definitley going to try it!  I hope this little tutorial made sense!

Style Musings: RAWR!

It was so warm on Sunday!  I am loving it!  So this is what I rocked to my sisters softball game.  She's 14, and on the towns rec team, so it's not a high-stakes game or anything.  She got a few hits.  I think she got to base twice, and got to home base once.  She did well.
I actually like this outfit.  I love the leopard-print top from H&M.  It's very soft and light.  The purple shorts are from Old Navy.  They add some color.  I could do this look with a brighter color short, like red or pink.
The shoes are comfy since I was sitting for a while.  And hungry.  Very hungry.  I just finished my first week on Jenny Craig.  They give you very small portions.  And I'm used to eating big portions.  Give me a week or two and I'll be fine.
I topped off this look with my H&M aviator sunglasses.
I have no idea what I am doing in this picture.

The Coveted: Right Now

Spring is here, and that means time to go shopping!  Here are some picks.  Enjoy!

Kara won Fashion Star!  Her final collection for H&M was orange, white, and black.  It was very cool.  So they decided to make a pair of orange shorts, and I want them.  They look flattering but they are in a unique color.
Forever 21 Polka Dot Blazer- I want this because I love patterns.  It would be awesome with just about anything bright.  Blazers are good right now because it's not quite warm enough.
Forever 21 Neon Yellow Motorcycle Jacket- Neons are a big trend this season, and I love myself a motorcycle jacket.  I like this one because it's cropped and fitted.

BDG Mint Jeans- I'm sorry I couldn't get a bigger picture.  These are great.  They're so stretchy.  I love the color.  So refreshing.  I want them in light pink too.

Clawed: Sparkly!

I love sparkles.  This is escpecially true for nails.
This weekend I went to Sephora.  I wanted to get an Ombre set from the New Black, but they don't have them in stores.  So I opted for this amazing Nails Inc. silver glitter.
So I did a silver glitter graident!
It's easy to do: paint a base coat first, (I used an OPI polish that I don't know the name of), then add a thin coat of glitter about 3/4 down your nail.  When that's dry, add another thin coat of glitter about half way down your nail.  Then put a lot of glitter on the tips, and seal it with a topcoat!  The only downfall to this polish is that it's really thick.  I bet it will really work well covering my whole nail.
I can't wait to get a matte topcoat to see what this baby looks like matte.
