Mockingjay

I saw The Hunger Games. It was really good. Some of the things that was in the book wasn't in the movie, like (SPOILER ALERT!) the mutts that were actually the dead tributes. But that would have been hard to get across onscreen. The movie had just enough blood and guts, but still focused on the story. Although it mostly focused on Katniss, there were moments of other characters stories. It got me thinking, which is never a good thing. I'm just so glad we don't make our children kill each other.

To be comfy in the theater, I wore a pair of purple Forever 21 pants. I really like these pants. They're a bright violet color and very comfy. At first, I wasn't sure about the length, but I really like them for spring. I topped it off with a brown t-shirt from Zara. I love this shirt because it has a really cool see-through pattern. And a zipper in the back. I love all the details of this shirt. I must go to Zara again soon. Then I slipped on my good old leopard flats. They add a good dose of pattern and are really cute.

I really must find a better way to take pictures. Any suggestions?

Blooming Flowers

Sorry about the squinting! It's so sunny!
Spring is offically here. It's warm, but not wet. At least not yet, anyways. They're saying it's going to get wet during the weekend. Say it isn't so! I like this weather. I can wear shorts and not freeze. I can wear thin shirts and not freeze. I'm so glad winter is over. I heard a bird singing yesterday. It's magical, especially after the cold, wet doldrums of winter.

On this beautiful, warm spring day, I wore my H&M dress as a shirt, tucked into a pair of YMI denim shorts. To cap off this look, I slipped on Forever21 floral flats. I love these shoes. They are so perfect. I love the floral print that is so hot, and the shape is great. I like shoes that have a rounded pointy toe. And they're sparkley! You can't really see it in the photo, but they're there. I like this look because it's simple and comfortable, and it celebrates spring. Happy Spring!

Clawed: Ikat

I love having long nails. But I have a problem. When I have bare nails, or even chipped polish, I chew my nails down so much it hurts. To keep my nails long, I keep my nails painted. And I like doing nail art. Simple designs, but nail art all the same. Since I'm doing my nails anyways, I decided I'll show them to the world! My first look:
IKAT!

I found a tutorial on how to do ikat nails through Fuck Yeah Nail Art. Google it; there is so much inspiration! I wanted to use these colors, not the coral and turquoise that the tutorial shows. For the base, I used Petal Power by Sally Hansen. It's a beautiful pinky nude. Then I dabbed a generic white in random sploches. When the white dried, I dabbed a marigold color, Spoiled's Designated Driver, over it to make the marigold brighter. The tutorial said to then use a black striper brush, but I used a black nail art pen instead. It works, I think. I put a top coat to seal it all in.

I like these nails. They're summery and fun. I like the colors too. It's such a nice break from all the heavy, dark nail polish looks from winter.

The Coveted: Madewell Sidewalk Skimmer

Heels are great, but I feel I get more use out of flats. In my world, none are more coveted than Madewell. Great quality is the name of the game. I want all the colors. The black and steel colors are classic, while green and blue can add some color to an outfit. And of course I'm lusting over the leopard print pair, which cost a cool $118.

The colored pairs would be amazing to wear with my colored denim, as well as the neutral pairs. I could also see wearing skirts with the steel pair. Or the green or blue pair peeking out from under a long skirt or dress. As an investment piece, I would most likely get the leopard print pair for $118, or the steel color in suede for $88. That doesn't mean I don't love the green and blue pairs($88 each), because I do. I just don't have $382 for four pairs of shoes. If only, if only...

Inspire Me: Mondo's Ink Blot Tee

I'm so happy Mondo won Project Runway All Stars! Austin's collection was disjointed, and Michael's had too much prints, although it was pretty. But I loved Mondo's collection. I envy the ease in which he can mix prints. I'm not too good at that. Mondo's collection was called "Therapy"; he said he needed therapy after being on the show. For the record, during almost every challenge he pretty much had a script: love the fabrics in the store, hate them at home, beat yourself up about it, then make an amazing garment. So he needed therapy. I get it. All the looks in the final challenge were great. But I especially loved his Rorschach ink blot t-shirt.
I do love the prints with it, but really dislike the multicolored sleeves. But I love the tee. The first time they showed it on the first part of the finale, I fell in love. Seeing it in all its glory a week later made me fall in love even harder. I want one. Except I want it on a pretty, soft, slouchy tee, not on a fitted tee like Mondo did. I find I like those types of tees better. And I could very easily do it myself. I found a way to do it on Instructables:http://www.instructables.com/id/Ink-Blot-T-shirt/. If I can't find a tee I like, I might just have to make one. I could do that. I could totally do that. The printing is easy enough, and I could probably find a good pattern out there. Sigh. So pretty.

The Coveted

Dannijo Sinatra Necklace $318
I want it. I love all the colors, and the collar shape is so now. But I could seriously wear it all the time. I probably could make it. Hmmmm.

Indian Summer

It was hot today, like summer hot. I thought it was supposed to be fall. Well, it gives me an opportunity to wear my H&M button down with denim shorts. It's a simple look with brown braided sandals.

They're cute.

This is such a comfy outfit. The shirt is a bit sheer, but it looks okay in this picture. I desperately need a better camera, or at least one that doesn't blur my pictures.

I did an ombre effect on my nails. It looks so badass.
