Style Musings: Sushi!

Last Saturday (6/9) was my sisters birthday.  Happy Birthday!  We celebrated on Friday by going out to sushi.  We went to our favorite sushi place: Haruki.  It was yummy.  My favorite sushi is tuna.
This is what I decided to wear.  First I started with my new shorts from Express.  They have a really cool tribal print.  I don't really have much to match them, so I had to decide between my mint tank and this green top.  The mint tank looked good, but it's notoriously cold in Haruki.  So I was a little less miserable in the green top.
When it comes to shoes, I'm not really sure.  I think I need classic flats or sandals in a single color.  Any suggestions?

Style Musings: Rainy Day

I'm still in school. It's just a math class, so it's not stressful.  This is what I wore to class the other day.

Of course I wore my light pink Forever 21 blazer! To mix it up, I matched it up with my BDG green jeans.

I tried some pattern mixing with my H&M leopard print top and Forever 21 floral flats. I think it works. What do you think?

Style Musings: Float Like a Butterfly

....sting like a bee.

I wore this outfit to class.  The room is freezing, so jeans and a top are a must.  I started with Forever 21 boyfriend jeans.  I cuffed them to show off my braided Report sandals.
My top is from Forever 21.  It has a wonderful butterfly print.  The ruffle is great too.  I never thought I could wear ruffles, but it works.
The blazer is also Forever 21.  I actually love it.  It's a little tight in the shoulders, but I love the color.  I can't button it either.  But it doesn't need to be buttoned! It adds a little structure to the flowy top.

Style Musings: Signs of Spring

The sun is out, the air is warm, the birds are singing. It's officially spring. About time, too.
To celebrate spring, I wore pastels and brights. A patterned Forever 21 top gave me the pastel, while a pair of bright violet Forever 21 pants contributed a bright. I think it works. The color of the pants match one of the colors in the top. The shoes ground the look.
Throw in a little 70's with the brown Born flatforms. I could wear these things forever.
To integrate the color of the flatforms, I wore a golden vintage chainlink bracelet. It was my grandmothers. It reminds me of my grandfather, who we called Pops. I remember him always wearing a chainlink necklace.

Style Musings: Matzah Ball

Happy Passover! Passover is my favorite holiday. I love the story, the symbolism, the food, and the four glasses of wine! I'm one of the few people who actually like gefilte fish. It's a mix of pike and whitefish all mashed up and rolled into a round-ish shape. Matzah ball soup is amazing. And if you've never had charoset, you haven't lived. Charoset is chopped apples, chopped nuts, and cinnamon, all drenched in some red wine. It's so good! It reminds us of the mud that the Jews used to build the pyramids when they were enslaved in Eygpt.

For this spring celebration, I wanted to wear something bright. I slipped on a pair of cobalt Forever 21 jeans. After some consideration, I wore a green Forever 21 top. I knew I wanted to wear a pair of floral Forever 21 flats. To bring in the pink from the flats, I wore Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense lipstick in #33, a satin fresh pink. I added some bling with a pair of vintage-inspired Jennie Boston earrings and a Hebrew nameplate necklace that I got in Israel.
My Passover was so much fun. I loved being with friends and family. And I loved my outfit! Don't mind my crazy faces. You try to take good pictures of yourself after more than four glasses of wine. And don't mind the messy room. How was your Passover/Easter?

Style Musings:Say Hello To My Little Friend

Did I say how much I love spring? Yes I love spring. I love the robins. I love the flowers. I love the warm sun. But I especially love the ladybugs! This particular ladybug was my grandmothers, and I love him. He adds a little whimsy to my look today.

This ladybug is crawling up a brown Zara tee, having conquered the bright violet Forever 21 pants. On my feet are Forever 21 floral flats. I really love these. I made them a little more comfortable by putting wads of electrical tape inside. I'm so ghetto.

I tied a vintage hot pink scarf onto my bag to bring in the colors in the shoes. I actually think it looks really cute!

As much as I love this look, I feel it's missing something. I think it's the blazer. Grey is an all-right color. But I think this look needs more color. I think I need a pale pink blazer. And bright orange lipstick. The pink blazer would tie in the shoes a little more, and the orange lips would tie in the ladybug.

So it's settled. On the hunt for a pale pink blazer!

But on the whole, I think this is a pretty good look.

Mockingjay

I saw The Hunger Games. It was really good. Some of the things that was in the book wasn't in the movie, like (SPOILER ALERT!) the mutts that were actually the dead tributes. But that would have been hard to get across onscreen. The movie had just enough blood and guts, but still focused on the story. Although it mostly focused on Katniss, there were moments of other characters stories. It got me thinking, which is never a good thing. I'm just so glad we don't make our children kill each other.

To be comfy in the theater, I wore a pair of purple Forever 21 pants. I really like these pants. They're a bright violet color and very comfy. At first, I wasn't sure about the length, but I really like them for spring. I topped it off with a brown t-shirt from Zara. I love this shirt because it has a really cool see-through pattern. And a zipper in the back. I love all the details of this shirt. I must go to Zara again soon. Then I slipped on my good old leopard flats. They add a good dose of pattern and are really cute.

I really must find a better way to take pictures. Any suggestions?

Blooming Flowers

Sorry about the squinting! It's so sunny!
Spring is offically here. It's warm, but not wet. At least not yet, anyways. They're saying it's going to get wet during the weekend. Say it isn't so! I like this weather. I can wear shorts and not freeze. I can wear thin shirts and not freeze. I'm so glad winter is over. I heard a bird singing yesterday. It's magical, especially after the cold, wet doldrums of winter.

On this beautiful, warm spring day, I wore my H&M dress as a shirt, tucked into a pair of YMI denim shorts. To cap off this look, I slipped on Forever21 floral flats. I love these shoes. They are so perfect. I love the floral print that is so hot, and the shape is great. I like shoes that have a rounded pointy toe. And they're sparkley! You can't really see it in the photo, but they're there. I like this look because it's simple and comfortable, and it celebrates spring. Happy Spring!

Simple and Chic

I think this is one of my favorite outfits. I started with a pair of Gap jeans. Then I added a black rouched shirt, courtesy of Last Tango. I got it in Florida. The grey Forever 21 cardigan was added for texture. Looking at the outfit, I thought I needed some color.

This necklace was perfect. My grandma gave it to me. If you look carefully, you can see the dragons! To match the green stone, I thought of my bracelet.
I got this bracelet in Israel. I don't wear it nearly enough. As for the mixed metals, I think it works. It would be too matchy-matchy, in my opinion, if I wore only one metal.
Criticism:

I don't really have any. I like the way the sleeves of the shirt stick out from under the cardigan. The only thing is I wish I were a little smoother. But I'm working on that.

Stay smooth!

INSERT WITTY TITLE HERE

My outfit is really basic today. A pair of Gap jeans and a black Forever 21 shirt with a sheer back is my outfit. Then I put on simple black flats from Sam Edelman via DSW. Fucshia lips make the look a bit brighter. Criticism I should have pulled my pants up for this picture. I think it's fine for a really simple look. I should just be smoother. That's all. Stay basic!
